Proofreading

Aspire Higher Tuition can offer you a proofreading service for undergraduate, master’s and PhD level work. I proof read students’ work for many years as a PhD tutor, and also had to ‘correct’ undergraduate final essays during the marking process in terms of spelling and grammar. I attended the University of Essex’s comprehensive proofreading course in 2011, run by Bronwen Wolton. Aspire Higher Tuition conforms to university guidelines on proofreading. Proofreading is undertaken at completion stage, in line with university guidance on proofreading of student work. Students are ultimately responsible for accepting or rejecting suggested corrections. Proofreading does not involve changing or moving text which is ‘editing’, but proofreaders can make suggestions to improve structure or sentence structure. Please see the 'Prices and Payment' section of this website for more information on how proofreading approach and pricing is agreed.

I have previously worked with many students who have English as a second language and students with dyslexia. I can mark up paper compies or use ‘Track changes’ in Microsoft Word.
